A week later Anna's phone rang and, pushed unknowingly by the divine intervention of those playful goddesses she picked it up before it went to voice mail.
It was Gian. Two weeks of the wine and the ice cream but mostly the comfort of her friends had started to dull her heartache but now her heart flipped over in her chest when she heard his voice.
They had a long talk that cold winter afternoon and life being as strange as it always is Gian told Anna he wanted to be with her.
As much as Anna wanted to be with him she was worried. How much could her heart withstand? How many times could her heart be broken? How many times before her heart could no longer be mended? No matter how much crazy glue was poured into the cracks. No matter how hard and how long the pieces were pressed together and left to bond.
Still, she loved Gian and so Anna said yes to him. Yes, to being together once again.
